2024 Salary Bands Adjustment

At this time of year, under the rules established by APS, CBC updates its salary bands. This exercise aims to ensure that remuneration remains competitive compared to the market. It turns out that, again this year, wages will be adjusted upwards.

The new salary grid can be found in the document «  2024 Merit Review Guidelines » in the documentation section of the website. Please note that the new salary ranges will be implemented on June 17, 2024.

The document mentioned above also deals with the merit-based review. We encourage you to read it carefully.

National Executive Committee Meeting

APS’ National Executive Committee met on May 7, 2024, as set out in the By-Laws, to discuss the issues you are experiencing and to plan future projects. Several topics were discussed, including analyzing membership statistics, status, and distribution throughout the country. These topics are also discussed with Radio-Canada/CBC. Our Treasurer also presented the financial situation of the Association.

The Committee also focused on the significant topic of artificial intelligence, which is the world of opportunity it could bring, its potential impact on our jobs, and its potential benefits. Of course, it is difficult to predict how far the AI will reach, but what will undoubtedly be essential to consider is how to ensure protection so that « the human factor » remains at the heart of concerns.

The Committee also initiated discussions on our collective agreement renewal negotiations that will take place in early 2025. Further to that, in the fall, you will receive a survey from the CROP polling firm that will give you the opportunity to share your priorities and concerns with us. Your survey responses will, once again, guide the negotiations

Pension Plan Surplus

As you know, CBC/Radio-Canada is responsible for distributing to active and retired members (or their eligible survivors, if any) the pension surplus amounts for 2021 and 2022. CBC/Radio-Canada is awaiting authorization from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) to distribute the sums. APS has yet to receive confirmation when this distribution will occur, but we hope it will be in 2024.
