Since its creation, APS has supported its members by representing them in negotiations for collective agreements. From the start, wages have been a priority issue. Indeed, before the establishment of the association was created the wage situation was chaotic, to say the least. Salary scales varied widely for people in the same jobs. Salary increases, overtime and employment contracts were unregulated. The yearning for consistency and equity in wages provided much of the impetus for the creation of APS.

APS mission to support its members includes, among other things, defending any member who may become the victim of an injustice, abuse, or discrimination.

While we always hope that such contentious situations will not occur within our organization, APS has defended and accompanied hundreds of employees in their litigation whether through arbitration, mediation, or other legal procedures. Below is the story of Brenda Levy, who has been helped by APS over the last seven years.

To help its members, APS has put a great deal of effort into ensuring they enjoy a beneficial work-family balance.

This is defined as reconciling the “demands and responsibilities of professional life and those of family life.” Certainly, workers in recent years have put growing importance on the need for specific measures to strike such a balance.  From the moment it came into being, APS has made this a core issue in its representations and the Association takes particular pride in the gains it has made in the area of flexible work schedules.
